Google Dashboard

Posted under Google by admin on Sunday 8 November 2009 at 6:16 am

Google has launched a new feature called Google Dashboard, which is a control panel for Google users. Users use the Dashboard to control personal settings and manage other information about themselves that is displayed or otherwise available for all the Google products they use with their Google account.

“Over the past 11 years, Google has focused on building innovative products for our users,” the company says. “Today, with hundreds of millions of people using those products around the world, we are very aware of the trust that you have placed in us, and our responsibility to protect your privacy and data. In the past, we’ve taken numerous steps in this area, investing in educating our users with our Privacy Center, making it easier to move data in and out of Google with our Data Liberation Front, and allowing you to control the ads you see with interest-based advertising.”

For now, the Google Dashboard allows control of Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Web History, Orkut, YouTube, Picasa, Talk, Reader, Alerts, Latitude, Friend Connect, Health, Profile, Contacts, Tasks, and Web History.

It appears that Google’s intention is to later add Google Analytics, Checkout, App Engine, Bookmarks, Base, Groups, Sites, Knol, Local Business Center, Maps, Merchant Center, News, Notebook, Webmaster Tools, Subscribed Links, and Toolbar sync.

Google representatives said “The scale and level of detail of the Dashboard is unprecedented, and we’re delighted to be the first Internet company to offer this — and we hope it will become the standard.”

The dashboard is available at google.com/dashboard. It is also available in the settings for your Google account.

Millennial Media, a leading mobile advertising firm, is predicting a major surge in mobile advertising spending in 2010.

They performed a survey of 100 leading ad agencies and brands who claim they will increase their mobile ad spending significantly in 2010.  Where is the highest growth to be expected for mobile spending?   As previously reported by Gulf Thunder Corporation, the largest investment will be in mobile search. And that puts a premium on local advertising as well.

If you have not yet read our page on local market dominance, you might want to catch it before you leave the site.  Local online advertising spending will be outpacing national online advertising by 2010. The Web is becoming increasingly localized for consumers – particularly mobile consumers. Do your research on mobile advertising, visit Google Local Business Center and get your business listed.  If you need a little help, call us at 251-583-5955 or use our free face-to-face video support on our contact-us page.
